Hearts, Hearts, We Love Our Hearts!

How did this shape come to recognize love and the human heart? There are at least a half a dozen stories that claim to be the origin of this shape representing our hearts. They range from the heart shaped fruit of the flower of the silphium, which was used for birth control and therefore associated with love and sex to the symbol showing up in India thousands of years ago. Whatever the origin, this lovely shape has come to mean love and affection throughout the world.
